Rosie: Example of Proactivity

My name is Rosie. I am 43 years old and I live in Hawthorne, California, very close to the Los Angeles airport. Although I now reside in the United States, I am from Guadalajara, Mexico. My life has been full of changes and challenges, and today I want to tell you a little about them.

My story begins in California, where I was born. However, my life soon took a turn when my parents separated. My mother decided to take me back to Guadalajara when I was only two years old. I spent my childhood in Mexico, but at age 10 I returned to California, whereI stayed to live permanently. This move wasn't exactly by choice, but over time I have come to understand that my parents wanted a better future for me.

during my growth I didn't receive much guidance on health and wellness. The diet in my family used to be unhealthy, with many greasy meals and junk food. However, as I got older, I became more and more interested in health and wellness. I wanted to take care of my mind and my body, and this led me to explore the world of health and nutrition. I even remember that one of my first classes in school was about health, which sparked my interest in the subject.

From 18 years old I have lived alone, which prompted me to learn to cook healthier meals and pay more attention to what I was putting into my body. Overcoming my family's poor eating habits has been a constant challenge, but I have always looked for ways to improve my well-being.

At the moment I am married and have a son who is one year and five months old. I have always dreamed of starting a family, and I am grateful that this dream has come true, even at an older age. My family is my greatest motivation to keep myself healthy and active.

My journey towards health and wellness took a positive turn when I met ROSAesROJO and joined Supervive Comunidad. A friend invited me to join, and at first, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I delved into the community and eventually took one of their courses. I discovered that SuperVive Community is much more than a program. It is a community in which meeting support, inspiration and valuable advice on how to maintain a healthy life.

My participation in Survive Comunidad made me realize the importance of prioritizing our health and well-being. I learned that maintaining good health habits and routines can prevent illness and provide a fuller, more active life. It also taught me that food plays a fundamental role in our health and how essential it is to know how to read food labels.

I have shared my health and wellness journey both in the community and in my daily life. I invited friends and acquaintances to join the community and participate in the ROSAesROJO programs. Although not everyone accepted the invitation, I know that I am doing my part to help others improve their health and well-being.

My message to everyone is simple: Prioritize your health. Even small changes can make a difference. Let's take steps to invest in our well-being, learn to take care of our body and mind, and maintain good health habits. Our health is a treasure that we must protect.

I am deeply grateful to Survive Comunidad and with all the people who make this community possible. Their programs and support have helped me live a healthier and happier life.I know I still have a lot to learn, but I am committed to following this path of wellness.

I appreciate the opportunity to share my story and hope it inspires others to prioritize their health and well-being. Together, we can build a healthier future and resilient for our Hispanic community.
